I'm not Mike, but that may be normal. What happens if you plug a tuner or some other line level device into the AUX input?
The voltage output from the phone is not likely to be very high. If something else works well in AUX then you know it's the phone at fault.
FWIW my Dad had an S-8000 V and I don't recall any issues with the AUX input.
