A DEAL IS A DEAL IS A DEAL!

Take a look at this. There are so many potentiometers are that are assumed bad in old equipment, simply because they have caps feeding them that are leaking DC voltage. If you have 2vdc to 10vdc on a volume pot for instance, that will many times give the symptoms of a bad pot because it is putting DCV on the grid of the voltage amp that it feeds. Now don't get me wrong, pots do go bad but if you change a pot and leave the leaky caps in,your new pot will fail as well.
If you think about it in this case, why should a balance pot go bad as it gets used so little in comparison to the volume pot? Leaky caps are the reason most of the time.
