5000A

Well -- if you want a receiver, and you like the cosmetics, the 5000A is an OK example.

One nice thing about the 5000A is a good tuner section (better than average).

The big caveat with the 5000A (and the unsuffixed 5000) relates to the driver boards. The originals were time bombs. There was an upgraded board that may (or may not) be retrofitted to any given 5000A; if the boards haven't been changed (or revised), the price of the receiver should reflect it -- AND the mitigation will need to be performed if you're planning to use the receiver (as opposed to have it sit on a shelf).

The 5000X had the updated driver boards, FWIW.

My 5000A sits on a shelf.
