Eli,
It is a myth that the 6π15π/SV83 has especially delicate screen grids. I have been using a set of the Russian milspec 6π15π-EB tubes (a matched quad from Decware) in an amp with switchable triode/ultralinear connection to reproduction Dyna ST35 OPTs. In about two years of regular use in both triode and UL modes, I have had ZERO problems with these tubes. B+ is about 300V.If you look at the spec sheets via the Duncanamps portal, the typical operating point given is 300V a-k, 150V g2-k. This might be what you're going by. But the listed MAXIMUM Vg2-k is 330V (same as a-k). See http://www.tubes.ru/techinfo/HiFiAudio/6p15pev.html. Have you actually had failures with these tubes running at g2 voltages near 300V?
This tube does require an external g3 (suppressor grid, pins 1 and 6) to cathode (pin 3) connection, unlike the EL84.
Regards,
JJ
