Basically, the sound is very muted and muffled. My sister had it for several years, but stopped using it because she said it was sparking. That didn't happen to me, and there are no signs of arcing on the chassis, nor are there signs of leaks from other components. The tubes are kind of dim, otherewise no obvious problems, othere than the mediocre solder joints I made when I was a kid.
