RE: $200-$400 1950s-19602 turntable recommendations

Both the Dual 1019 and 1219 are excellent choices with a couple of caveats. The 1019 is very sturdy and with proper maintenance will probably last forever as there are few plasticky parts. One of these however that gives a lot of trouble is the cartridge holder. The contacts tend to corrode easily and its very common to drop a channel and or pick up hum. These holders are also hard to find and pricey when you do find them. The 1219 is a little more plasticky but more sophisticated than the 1019 in that the VTA can be adjusted from single to multiple play but this mechanism tends to break as the lubrication dries up and the plastic becomes brittle. The part cannot be found except from a donor machine
