Airtime's review of the Marantz 2270

It's been over ten years since I last had my hands on a 2270. And almost five since I sold my 2230 (one bad mistake). Since then I have had a string of other Marantz receivers. In short I never cared for the sound of the silver "B" series. Just too edgy and almost "Pioneer like" in their sound. The simple blue faced units always called me back.

So after a few weeks of listening to a stock 2270 how do I feel - Yes I am STILL impressed. For a receiver this unit has all the basics of making great music. A nice tuner, love that midrange control, a quality amp section, great looks, solid as a rock quality wise and fun to listen too.

This receiver is sitting next to a fully tricked out set of Marantz separates. And it still is an easy listen.

Now I can't wait to recap it and maybe replace SOME of the mylar NP caps to something of a little better quality. but overall - I really do not see any need to reinvent the sound of this beauty.
