Last night, the blue lights began flickering on my Pioneer SX 1010 receiver. Soon I noticed the smell of burning, or at least very hot, wiring or electronics of some kind. I shut it down. There was no audible problem during all this. Although recently, I have noticed some low frequency "thumping" sounds when I first turn it on.As you can probably tell, I'm not qualified to work on it myself. I know there are plenty of folks I could ship it to. But this thing is a huge beast. It will be difficult and expensive to ship. I would much rather drive it somewhere if I could find a good technician within a couple of hours from me in Charleston, IL.
That means: Champaign/Urbana, Springfield, IL, Bloomington/Normal, IL, St. Louis, Indianapolis, Terre Haute, or someplace in that vicinity.
Any ideas?
Thanks very much in advance.
Sam
P.S. I hooked up my old Cambridge Audio integrated as a back up. Jeez! The Pioneer totally blows it away, in every way imaginable.
