There have been a few that have modded the 230 to use as a power amp only. The unit uses the C24 preamp basically with a power amp not too dissimilar to the MC225 but not as good. The preamp is solid state while the power amp section is tube. With a complete and through going through it is a decent unit. Remember we are talking of a unit from the mid '60s and nothing from that time should be used without tlc.If in decent physical condition you'd be better moving it to a Mc lover and using the money to find something that will do what you want rather than cutting it up. These are somewhat rare and should be preserved if possible. You should be able to get enough for it to get a really nice vintage tube power amp.
