I'm modernizing a Pilot SA-260 now and am just soldering jumper wires across pins 4,5 and 7,8 on the inside lugs of the socket for the preamp. Be sure to count counter-clockwise if you are looking at the socket from the outside of the chassis. This is not a pre out / amp in situation as lipman1 supposes...and as found on the back of McIntosh ss integrated amps and receivers.
If you looke at the SA-232 schematic, you will probably find a shorting plug illustrated, which will show which lugs to jumper. The SA-260 schematic shows this. I'm using some standard hookup wire to do the job.
