... my 970DH (list = ~$150) can play almost every common format, including SACD (!) - it works just fine with my Heath AA-151 and whatever speakers I use at the time (usually KLH Model 6)there are mods, but the stock player sounds as good on most music stuff as my modded Toshiba 3960
