wood cabinets for tube gear and adequate ventilation

Hi Guys,

I need your advice on something. I'm building a wood cabinet for my Fisher X-100. How much ventilation on the bottom of the cabinet would you advise? I could go with none, i.e. the metal bottom plate being completely covered by the wood panel on the bottom. Or I could cut out some areas of the wood so the metal surface comes into contact with the air. The top will have a nice big screen over the last third or so of the cabinet so there should be decent ventilation from above the chassis. How much is enough for the bottom? I just don't want to reduce the lifespan of my refurbishing work due to the amp getting too hot. I know the best thing to do would be to not have a cabinet but I kind of need the amp to look presentable in order to keep using it. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Bill
