those went for that much money is that they are in real nice original condition (woofers with the original dust caps, no changes, nice grilles, etc.) and the bidders evidently got cought up in a war.That price is an exception, however, because the highest I've seen a near mint pair go for before this is around $300.00.
The nicer pairs are becoming more scarce though.
