Re: Astounded by 33 yr old speakers - Rectilinear XII

I'm curious. I kind of recall the Rectilinear XII but the description you gave reminded me of another Rectilinear speaker the model X, the woofer size, the whizzer on the mid and the tweeter type. I almost bought a pair of Xs. It was a very interesting speaker, an attempt at an ALMOST one way. The reason the mid had a whizzer was to extend the top end response so it could run from 100 hz to 8 khz. The other interesting design factor was the series rather than parallel crossover.

What is the approximate dimensions of your speaker. I think the X was an AR3 size speaker but the XII was smaller. I'm just wondering if you didn't really get a model X or maybe the XII used similar design concepts.
