as was the 212... the 212 just stopped (optical sensor); the 312 stops & lifts the arm.The early 312 had the green incandescent lights in the touch controls, the later ones had LED's. The construction quality, IMNSHO, declined steadily after the "upgrade" to 312.
Nice suspended subchassis belt drive tt with FG servo DC motor and a low-mass (if unsophisticated) arm. Popular as all getout in the mid-Atlantic when I was at a certain, impressionable age :-)
Coupla them sitting in the basement in unknown states of functionality, for some reason...
