PAS coupling caps are okay

The PAS coupling caps are not bad caps. Those vinatge Imp caps can sound very nice. The PAS weaknesses are the volume control and lack of high voltage power supply capacitance. Yes, the tone controls are also bothersome, but can be helpful to some users.
If he is looking to sell these units, then stock is always preferred, albeit with that terrible original volume control possibly replaced, but include the original for the buyer. With the original Tele tubes, these PAS preamps are getting premium prices on the bay.
If the heater supply yields 11VDC, then leave the selenium alone, but definitely check those heater supply caps. Replace/Upgrade the caps if they leak any AC.
The high voltage supply is very wimpy in capacitance. Increasing the power supply capacitance, with a few hunderd uf, will take away that tubby bass syndrome of these preamps; plus it will add some speed on transients and snap/wallop in the bass. Then, you might even decide to keep one, as these do have good sonics. Their phono stage is commendable. Good Luck...
