I am sure you're correct with the 3 different types of speakers, however, I am on a tight budget. Most of this equipment was purchased used at varoius times during the past few years. I like the Def tech center and the AR 302's put out a great sound although they are 6 ohm speakers. The rest of the bunch are 8 ohms. The JBL's though seem a bit weak when watching movies. I forgot to mention this system is used solely for movies only. I have other systems I use for music.
I have thought about using 3 CLR def techs for the fronts and center and def tech bipoloars for the rear and rear surrounds to address the possible problem you stated.
As far as the Pioneer goes it certainly is not a high end receiver, but for the money ($395) it to me was the best choice. It is powerful, has decent seperation, and the reviews on it have been excellent.
