Classic gear from yesteryear; vintage audio standing the test of time.

what about catering to the newbs?

There's definitely two camps of people out there. Those who have been at this a long .... LONG time. And those coming into 'vintage' today fresh, sometimes with more money then brains.

nightdoggy, have you considered putting out your shingle and catering to those coming into vintage in recent times, and instead of living by the model of finding an old piece and restoring it, forgo the 'finding part', and just restore old pieces others have purchased wherever or whenever? It certainly doesn't appear you would want to do this 'high volume'. So you don't have to worry about pricing too high; instead price very high. That'll keep the nickel and dimers away anyway and you find you end up with a better population of clients. Just a thought.

Though admittedly, I'm probably not realizing that you are also talking about the 'parts' that go into your rebuilds that have become scarce or overpriced. Or the loss of satisfaction of finding an old dingy piece and revitalizing to new or nicer then new in some ways.

(BTW, the Ace or Spades story is incredible! LOL! )
