You are correct about the limited capability of switched convienence outlets. Setting a relay up so the switched convienence outlet controls the coil and the contacts control power amp "juice" is easy enough. However, that's not good enough. You should delay application of "juice" to the power amp for a while, when starting the rig up. Also, the power amp should be turned off before the preamp, at shut down time.Do you want to get involved with delay circuitry, self latching, and a power amp shutdown push button? At power down time, you'll have to walk over and hit the button.
