One of the complaints of CDs that I have heard is that it is TOO clean. There is no residual sound. Can remember the level of decibals but I remember reading that no room is ever at 0 decibals, there is always ambient sound.I think playing vinyl there is some "air" or "volume" to the music that puts you in that smokey room or in the recording studio.
