IT's hard to tell if the power supply caps are gone without changing them. Some people have gone to the lengths of keeping the old capacitor tubes and stufing them with new ones.My only recomendation is that you use power supply caps with high ripple current ratings. Panasonic makes some nice small ones. Check Alied Electronics. I used those a few years ago in my MAC 40s and they still work fine.
