Yamaha CR640 distortion question.

I acquired my CR640 a couple of months ago. I cleaned the exteriors, used DeOxit on all the pots and switches and did a visual check for bad solder joints and all was working well until a couple of weeks ago. At that point I started to hear severe distortion out of one channel upon turn-on, along with drastically reduced volume. Moving the volume control or the balance control quickly back and forth a number of times doesn't clean up the sound, nor does running it in mono, but just leaving it on does eventually see the problem go away. I'm now just leaving the receiver on all the time, but I'd like to fix the problem--any ideas? I see no leaking electrolytics, but I'm wondering if maybe I've got some bad ones in there.
Thanks for any insight.
Bob
