If you are considering going the ...

...vintage Marantz route, I'd suggest specifically asking questions of the seller about any cosmetic issues and to ensure all functions operate as they should, no matter what the description says. Be sure to ask if all indicator lights (stereo, etc) are functioning; dial lamps are easily replaced.

In that 22xx power range, I really like the 2238, the 2245 and the 2252. The 'B' designation may or may not mean an improvement in sonics or function to the listener; although, Marantz did use it to indicate that there had been a a chnage of some sort.

I like the phono stages and tuners in these units. They do vary by model, though. Have you seen this site (click on the Marantz button)?
