I have owned vintage NAD and now use a C372 amp. They all sounded the same, which to me is good. A bit sterile sound and I prefer tube sound but the NAD is for my all my inefficient speakers. I really liked their new reciever and it has A/B switching but lacks a phono stage, not really a big deal, but now add $100 or more for an outboard stage. The receiver didn't have enough power for me or I would have bought it.
With new you have no worries about reliability because they are covered. With Vintage you are taking a small risk but you can save money.I would go new and try to find a display model to save some but that is just my opinion.
Good luck
