shim the vc-former so that it is as centered in the gap as possible then do the gluing of the surround and basket.when the glue gets tacky push the cone down so that the surround touches the basket.
then press the surround down at like 9oclock and 3oclock then rotate the driver 90degrees and press down again then 45degrees etc etc.
idea is to evenly press the surround down without causing it to shift.
the shims will hold the vc-former straight but its entirely up to you to get the surround glued down without any stress on it.
if you can get no rub even from the dropped driver you will be ok doing it the way i described.
