Re: Pinging Bold Eagle.

The one with the 3" circular hole is for the original Advent where the tweeter stands proud of the front panel by about 3/4". That puts the grill panel very close to the 4" x 4" Masonite panel of the tweeter so the tweeter cone (almost) comes up into the hole and radiates from a wide smooth plane surface the size of the cabinet.

The New Advent has the tweeter mounted flush to the front panel, so there's no chance to use the same trick as above. The choice there is cut out as much of the grill panel as possible to allow the tweeter to radiate at a wide angle.

I would not recommend mixing grill types. Stick with the type made for your version of the tweeter. I did cover the 4" x 4" Masonite panel around the protective grill with polyester fleece to absorb low angle radiation and reduce edge reflections from the 3" hole. Fabric stores stock this stuff in various thicknesses.
