Will Scott 299A work with my speakers? + other ?s

24.158.15.206

I just bought a 299A on Ebay. It was a fairly impulsive decision but I was looking for something relatively inexpensive that I could feel comfortable upgrading. I assumed that 17wpc would be enough to drive my Gallos (88db) but looking through the archives some people say 92+ db is needed. I've tried a RWA Sig 30 and it seems to have plenty of headroom for my musical taste - not extremely loud, mostly chamber, solo instrumental and vocal music.

Where's the best place to get a schematic for the A? What are the essential parts replacements to start with?

Which tube replacements do people recommend? (seller said current ones are: Rectifier is Telefunken.12AX7s may be Telefunken, not sure. 7189s are HH Scott. 6BL8 have no name)

Thanks so much,
Bob
