The same basic unit as the 3000x but with more features that never worked all that well. The first time I tried to use the sound-on-sound feature I got a cloud of smoke and a burning smell. Repeated trips to the Tandberg facility in Armonk NY never really fixed the problem, unfortunately. The unit make great recordings at all its available speeds...7.5, 3.75 and even at 1 7/8 ips. My biggest quibbles with the unit were mechanical- the tape clutches seemed to spill tape a lot and they were hard to keep adjusted....and the transport was kind of noisy. It was a nice unit...but it's one of the few pieces I've owned that I don't miss having today.
Perhaps your simpler machine will work better than mine did....MAK
