Re: What ever happened to good value ?

Allowing a little for inflation, there are still some good buys.

Someone mentioned the Infinity Primus 360, but the smaller 150 and 160 are also excellent and still pretty inexpensive.

I picked up a pair of Yamaha speakers at Christmas for a grand daughter for $60/pr and they sounded very nice.

The NAD C320BEE integrated amp is under $400 and is an excellent sounding piece. When you figure a Pioneer SX-727 cost $350 back in 1972, it's a steal.

I'd also have to include most of the NAD gray faced line, and most of Cambridge Azur line. Stereo receivers are nearly all economy models, although NAD still has the 720BEE. I have not been terribly impressed by the $100 models at Circuit City.

It's harder to come up with good, solid full range speakers at reasonable prices than it is electronics. I really haven't heard much that turn me on. Some of the lower B&W models are decent, but still pushing $600-1000/pair.

Grado SR-60 headphones at $60 are a deal.
