Classic gear from yesteryear; vintage audio standing the test of time.

What ever happened to good value ?

I remember when my hifi friends would share when they
found something that sounded great - and cost little
After a career in retail hifi with Radio Shack, Tweeter,
and a few other indepedents - I can remember a few items
whose sound belied its cost :

The Grado FT E + phono cartridge -damn good !
The early Toshiba direct drive turntables
The ADC 303 speaker
The Radio Shack speaker with the L type tweeter
Those Radio Shack headphones for 19.95 - that were actually
$49 Koss models
The little receiver that could - the HK 330c
The Genesis 2 speakers that smoked the Large Advents on R & R

What have our vintage guys seen lately of newish gear
that seemed to be great deals ? Those speakers at Best Buy ?
that cheap receiver at J & R ? That discontinued cd player
at Cambridge Soundworks .. That good sounding Toshiba 3960
dvd player ?

Be curious to see what the astute Vintage crowd has found
in today's stuff -newish if you will..that gives a good blast
for the buck ...
