try some different speakers/cartridges - maybe cables

i have no experience with the jbls, but used speakers are CHEAP (relatively).

for under $500 (sometimes more like $300-$350), you can get thiel CS-3 (maybe CS3.5), KEF 104/2. ACTUALLY, here's my suggestion, get a pair of Vandersteen 2Ci and call it a day ;-) i've even seen the original vandy 2C go for $180!

as far as the cartridge, try a denon DL-103. they can be had for $148 delivered to your door. you will need a step-up though.

and yes, I'm going to mention cabling! go to bluejeanscable.com. get their 10 gauge belden cable ($.57/ft) and some nice belden 1695a interconnects ($25-$30/pair - depending on length).

see ya,
Robby
