IF you are going to build NEW boxes!?

may I suggest you try adding layers of 3mm MDF inside, at a minimum 2 layers.

Use heavy weights (sandbags or concrete blocks) to squeeze the panels together, and then to glue them to the inner walls of the box. Then add bitumen panels glued and pinned. These panel-pins (tiny nails) should go through all the layers and into the main box wall.

NB Far thicker and stiffer - laminates - should be used for the front and back baffles.

Also consider adding (MDF with cut outs or timber) cross bracing and timber vertical bracing strips.

some NB's

Add up the volume lost by these panels and braces, and compensate in the built volume. A slightly larger final box size at the end will NOT matter with a sealed alignment, anyway. And, you can always glue a couple of roofing tiles to the bottom panel.

In all cases use thin layers of water-base contact cement - these don't outgas and damge driver supensions and surrounds.

Take the opportunity to round the front baffles edges and to rebate all drivers, consider smoothing over any bolts and screws, too.
