Dyna tube amps

Old Dyna tube amps have a 470k ohm input impedance. They need a source that mates well to that impedance to sound "right".

Your passive doesn't provide that steady impedance at all! Your attenuator is altering the impedance presented to the amp at different levels depending on how little or how much you are attenuating the signal. Worse, you are depending on your source component and what ever it's output impedance is to drive the amp through the attenuator. Not the best case scenario for your Dynaco amp.

If you want to stick with an all in one unit, a Conrad Johnson PV-10A is a nice, undervalued unit, the ARC tube preamps are my preference. A Dyna PAS suits your needs also.
