What you encountered can also be explained by poor FM reception. How did you hook up your FM antenna? Try to move your antenna around, or better yet take both tuner and antenna outdoor and try it. If the stereo light goes up when you test it outdoor, the problem is not in the tuner.I would guess that the one on the upper left hand corner is the IC that does MPX decoding. On the Accuphase T-100, there is a VR around the MPX decoder for L/R balance adjustment. I don't know anything about what might be used in the Luxman.
