As for DC blocks, many mast mounted and inline amplifiers or down converters use the downlead to provide B+ (DC power) thus using the same cable for both signal and power supply. You don't want DC at the antenna input so a DC block is used. It's usually just a series capacitor or in the case of center conductor and shield two series capacitors, one on each.
