what stations near you are of real interest to you?where are they on the compass from you? spread out?
how strong are each of them?
FM reception is directional, and if you use a non-directional or junk antenna the performance will not be as good as with one that is.
what antenna you need depends on
what you want to receive, and well,
and what reception for each station is like, at your site.
If you live in a ferroconcrete building reception becomes a whole LOT harder.
I would take the view that unless there are
stations* you really want within reasonable distances
with music that you can enjoy, and
you can install a sufficiently good antenna to make such enjoyment* possible, where you ARE.
Just don't bother.
So, why DID you buy the radio / was it a sensible purchase?
Did you really believe that it is 'only the tuner' that matters?
