Heathkit AJ-53 AM tuner

Which tuner to get and getting the most from it. Thank God, for the radio!

Saturday morning's 'swap pile' find at the town dump: a Heathkit AJ-53 (tube) AM tuner. The cosmetics of this match two other late-model tube pieces from Heath: the AA-32 6GW8 stereo integratd amp and the AJ-63 mono FM tuner. These were the ones with the beige paint that tends to flake off the aluminum cabinet!
Curiously, I now have a matched set of these three pieces. Things just sort of turn out that way sometimes.
I haven't tried the AJ-53 yet. The AJ-63 I have was lucky enough to have been aligned by none other than Charles "stellavox" King! Still need to freshen up the AA-32. Well, winter is coming...
