Sounds like the 77 has some issues to deal with. Describing early Mc as a bit tube like is relative to other SS units and not an absolute. Later generations moved along the comparitive scale further to the typical SS sound. Frand purposely tried to voice his early SS to the consistent Mc signature. Others tried this also but none were as successful.
