Worth it to mod a non-vintage tuner?

There has been much information about the benefits of modding vintage tuners, on the Tuner Info site, this forum and elsewhere,

But, how bout modding a non-vintage solidstate tuner? In my case, because of the well-regarded tuner section in my Onkyo T9090II, I'm thinking that maybe modding the output stage would be the way to improve the sound. Maybe upgraded op amps, capacitors, low noise diodes? Anyone have any experience or info?

FWIW, the Onkyo sounds just superb as it is (I'm the original owner and bought it in 1996), clean, clear, powerful bass, amazing reception. The tuner section is reputedly one of the best. But, I keep thinking that the sound could always be improved upon and the output stage seems like the logical choice. I wonder...?

Also,if anyone knows of a person who could mod the output section of the unit (if it seems worthwhile), I would welcome the info. Many thanks in advance.
