These guys know all you could possibly want to know. My own personal advice would be is if you want the best sound for the money buy a Kenwood KT 7500 and have it modded. Sound quality is outstanding and no stock tuner can trump it for sound quality or reception if you have that part modded too. There's many options but a vintage tuner with a new op amp(s) and fresh caps in the power supply and audio path will get you a long way for your money. Also don't forget that a good outdoor antenna not only helps reception but sound quality too. Radio shack makes one for 25 bucks that's pretty good and far better than any indoor antenna. Good Luck
