RE: Contemporary radio broadcasting?

The smaller stations at the left end of the dial tend to still spin vinyl and broadcast within the FCC (Good Broadcasting Practices - little to no compression, little to no bleed over from their licensed frequency and often in stereo) guidelines/regulations.

Here in Northern CA we have a few spots where you can enjoy FM-
SF Bay Area has a bunch of college stations:
KCSM - took the vinyl library from KJAZ - huge collection!
KUSF was sold out from under the students to KUSC (USC radio station from SoCal) to inherit the KDFC (classical) Library and DJs - we lost a college station - but kept a classical......
KPFA - the flagship Pacifica Station - probably the Best Sound quality in the Bay Area - Great music evenings and weekends, otherwise news and talk

As you go north along the coast - Marin, Sonoma and Mendocino county have excellent stations Guallala on the Mendo/Sonoma line even has a good commercial station - KTDE 100.5 Mostly 50's -'00s R&R

There are also excellent stations elswhere once you leave the cities - Butte County, Stanislaus, ....
