Some of the 'outboard' multiplex units were Excellent performers-
there was a bit of a race to the market among the competing formats and MFGs-
IIRC, the H.H.Scott units are the best-
but fisher and McIntosh made good units to render any mono tuner stereo-
and I would also second Eli's comment on the Dyna FM-3...check out the FAQs or google it - but there are some simple/good mods for this unit also-
