Which tuner to get and getting the most from it. Thank God, for the radio!

Only AFTER I moved my inside-garage generic-rabbit-ears
was I able to hear good sound. My other tests were done
under poor(but somewhat constant) reception conditions---NOT very smart
I know. Frankly I just forged ahead. Also cant determine if the improved sound was due to better modern parts or the age of the old ones...

My cement-tile roof/metal-door and community restrictions prevent a proper
antenna.
YES, having improved this tuner does motivate me to get my antenna
act together.
