Being an ex ham I used to bounce signals via outdoor stacked beams off of the Aurora over the North pole with 25 watts of RF on 6 meters. I performed 6 meter skip to Australa too. So, DX is fun.

No doubt an outdoor antenna way outperforms an indoor antenna. But, if stuck with an indoor antenna one might as well have the best indoor antenna. An indoor rhombic is best, but hard to rotate. Next? I vote rabbit ears as easy to rotate and adjustable for lowest multipath.

BTW- I do not salute or am not the little joiner either! Heh, heh.
