I got a nice Fisher 100-C MPX tuner.
With the stock tubes stereo works. I replaced the
"Fisher" 6AU6s with CBS 6AU6W, the sound improved, but stereo disappeared.
Nest I replaced the output caps on the 12AX7s with ,22uF K40-Y and ,022uF K40-Y, a huge improvement in musical enjoyment.
There was a leaking electrolytic in an area with 500uF 35V and transistor. I replaced the leaking one and two 500uF while I was in there.
When I replaced all of the carbon comps that weren't in the direct audio path, with carbon film, the sound seemed to be quieter? with more detail.
Can the same thing be done with this unit?
Part of improving the sound in the Dynaco FM-3 was replacing a lot of ceramic caps. Should I be doing the same with this unit?
I haven't found a schematic yet.
Many thanks
Bob
