I've got three FM-3s and have decided its time to learn how to "tune" them.
I've down loaded the instructions and have discovered that my 10 meg multimeter won't give up the same readings as a 4 meg VTVM would.
I've checked the voltage at eyelet 31, .543V and eyelet 32, 7.3V on a stock unit that looks as if all of the tubes are still NOS.
On the unit I'm chosen as to learn on, my best efforts to tune T5 yield 3.394 an 32 and 1.57 on 31
The directions want 32 at 8v, and 0V on 32.
My experimental unit started out with around the same readings as my stock unit.
Just by trial and error I can retune my experimental unit to the same voltages as the stock unit.
My puzzlement is not being able to get the 0V with a 10Meg input tester. My guess was that I couldn't tune to the full 8V specified because my tester has 10 meg input vrs 4 meg. But not being able to tune the slug to a 0V has me confused (more than normal).
