Initial impression of Sangean HDT-1 HD Tuner

This is my first foray into FM digital, having succumbed to the regular FM advertising "now broadcasting in HD" spots, living not too far away from a major metropolitan area in which there are over a dozen stations using this technology, and a $40.00 rebate which will bring the final cost to a little more than $150.00 After the initial purchase of the unit there are no subscription or download fees, which was also a selling point for me since I don't subscribe to any satellite or cable services, and even DSL isn't available at this time.

So far the Sangean sounds very, very good with the supplied dipole antenna! The display is bright and informative. What I find most gratifying is the higher signal-to-noise ratios on the digital transmissions as compared to the same station on my other tuners. It's not CD-quality or as dynamic as vinyl but it's a welcome addition to my component system. I'll give further details on the tuner's performance once I've used it a bit more, with a better antenna.
