Hi....even with "the original GEC KT66"? IMO, I doubt. May be I don't like vintage sound. Or may be I was involved too much with QUAD IIs day-in day-out in my early years.
That said, I'm yet to be impressed by its pricey modern 're-issues' -
QUAD II-40 (circuity virtually identical to the old one, with upgraded tubes: 6SH7 driving 2xKT-88 PP + 5UG4 rectifier). I got to be 'unlucky'.Again, soncis is subjective.
