they last forever, are very tolerant of mistakes on your part, have never let me down, and many models have a liftime warranty. So buy an older used model at your local pawn shop or ebay cheap and if it really has a problem the company will stand behind it. IMHO it's a better long term investment than a lower quality new one. I use a model 87 a lot and think it would be a fine choice in your (hopefully) price range.All that said I think a Simpson 260 still needs to be on the bench.
