More info about the project

I bought the kit from Benny at http://www.diyparadiso.com
the kit contains the CD-Pro2 transport, the different PCB's and all of the components, but no case.
The case was custom made for me by http://www.par-metal.com

The original PCB of the tda1541 DAC is made for a cs8412 and one tda1541, but the CD-Pro2 transport has a i2s output that can be directly connected to the tda1541 (no need for a cs8412), so I changed the circuits for a second tda1541a in parallel, but with its own capacitors and power supplies.
Two tda1541 compared to one give you an extra 6db, more dynamics, better sound overall.
See http://users.podolsk.ru/boga/DAC.html for connecting two tda1541 with eachother.
I also changed the CCS for the 5842 tubes to a Hawksford cascode CCS,
tried different coupling caps, settled for the Mundorf silver PIO.

Diyparadiso is now working on a revision of the CD-player project,
that revision will have:
- a pcb for two tda1541
- a solution for the high frequency junk that every non-oversampling DAC has, so that the passive filter isn't needed anymore. The sine waves at 20k will be nice sinewaves, no rectangles, description of this problem at bottom of: http://www.diyparadiso.com/dac1.htm
- he's also looking for a case to include in the kit.
